According to a broadcast industry source on November 5, actress Kim Hye-yoon has been offered the lead role in SBS’s upcoming drama Good Partner 2 and is currently in final discussions.
The first season of Good Partner, which aired from July to September 2024, followed the intense yet human stories of divorce lawyers and achieved a peak rating of 17.7% (Nielsen Korea). The drama’s strong storytelling and performances drew significant acclaim, prompting the production of a second season.
In Good Partner 2, Kim Hye-yoon is expected to join Jang Nara, who will reprise her role from Season 1, as her new partner. While details about Hye-yoon’s character have not yet been revealed, she is reportedly set to appear as a new divorce lawyer who grows alongside Jang Nara’s character through their professional and personal journeys.
Season 1 starred Nam Ji-hyun as a rookie attorney who learned the ropes from Jang Nara’s seasoned lawyer character. Due to scheduling conflicts, Nam Ji-hyun will not return for Season 2, and the storyline will now focus on Jang Nara and the newly introduced lawyer played by Kim Hye-yoon.
Known for her bright and lively charm in dramas, Kim Hye-yoon is expected to showcase a fresh and mature side in this legal office series. Fans have expressed excitement about her casting, noting her sharp diction and confident presence as perfect for a legal drama.
Following her acclaimed performance in Lovely Runner and multiple awards including the PRIZM Popularity Award at the 61st Baeksang Arts Awards, anticipation is high for her next projects. In addition to Good Partner 2, Kim Hye-yoon is also preparing for SBS’s I Am Human Starting Today and the upcoming films Salmokji and Land, which she is currently filming.
Good Partner 2 is currently in pre-production and is expected to air in the second half of 2026 once casting is finalized.
UPDATED NEWS: ACOM has confirmed that Kim Hye-yoon has received an offer to star in Good Partner 2 and is positively reviewing it.
